My songs are deeply connected to the land and its history. Singing is a traditional way for Warlaba people, to preserve their culture. The paintings we create also carry this historical significance.

I want to share the stories I have been taught by my father, including our origins and the history of our land. My clan is Mambaliya, my dreaming is Kurlyukurlyu, Brolga and my country is Wubunjawa near Marrinybul. I am Garrwa from my father’s side and Yanyuwa from my mother’s side.

Each song holds a special meaning, representing the country and the animals we are connected to. We are deeply connected to the land, and this connection is vital to our culture. The stories in our songs are intertwined with the land, providing insight into the past and the lives of our ancestors. When we pass on, our great-great-grandchildren will be grateful that our songs continue to be shared.
